SCREEN-SPACE was created to provide independent coverage of the world of cinema. The opinion will not be dictated by commercial interests, but by a commitment to a unique perspective, fresh content and user interaction.

SCREEN-SPACE will adhere to editorial guidelines that ensure content is 100% factual and that gossip and rumour are avoided. Feedback will be monitored for any hateful or offensive posts, as SCREEN-SPACE exists for like-minded people who respect and want to engage in meaningful conversations about film, in all its forms.

SCREEN-SPACE encourages and welcomes all suggestions for content. We want to cover what you want to read, so please let us know of film screenings, events, filmmakers, courses, release dates, etc, from any corner of the world. All will be considered.

From SIMON FOSTER, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of SCREEN-SPACE:

"Like many of the great cities around the world, the cinema-going landscape of my hometown of Sydney, Australia, has shifted under my feet over the last 40-odd years. The suburban single-screen theatre, where the Saturday afternoon double-feature still ran until as recently as the mid 1980s, has all but vanished; the arthouse and underground venues have shut down, denying a new generation the thrill of watching their first Cronenberg or Lynch or Herzog film in a dark, dank (and, by today's standards, probably dangerous) fleapit. I'm grateful for home-theatre technology and am happy to sit in a comfortable multiplex chair, don't get me wrong. But I don't know if todays impressionable moviegoer is as engulfed by the sensorial thrill and lasting memories that 'a trip to the movies' meant to past generations.

SCREEN-SPACE was created to mirror that all-consuming film experience; to fuel that sense of discovery all us buffs have felt, when we realise the unshakeable grasp that cinema has of us. The content will be vast; I hope to offer something for everyone. In that way, SCREEN-SPACE will reflect the global film community, all its passionate contributors and those that respect and occasionally adore the work they do."

Involved in the Australasian film sector since 1986, I started my career in the sales and marketing divisions of Village Roadshow, Columbia Tri-Star Films and 20th Century Fox; by 2000, I was Asia Pacific Sales Manager for ‘The Showbusiness Bible’, Variety. Turning my focus to full time film journalism, my work was published in Inside Film, The Big Issue, FilmInk and Empire magazines and on various online outlets, including Screen Hub and Digital Retribution. After 4 years as one of the original editorial team at SBS Movies, I launched SCREEN-SPACE in 2012. I am currently film reviewer and entertainment reporter across Australia's national talkback radio network, Macquarie Media as well as hosting a weekly film review segment on ABC-FM Statewide Drive. A member of the Film Critics Circle of Australia (FCCA), the Australian Film Critics Association (AFCA) and the industry body, Cinema Pioneers, I have served on the jury of such festivals as The Sydney Underground Film Festival, the Melbourne Film Festival sidebar Telescope, The South Australian Screen Awards, The Byron Bay International Film Festival, Screenwave International Film Festival (NSW), Fangoria x Monster Fest (Melbourne), The Dungog Film Festival and A Night of Horror/Fantastic Planet Film Festival. In 2018, I was appointed Program Director of Sydney's SciFi Film Festival and in 2019, became Festival Director of Fangoria x Monster Fest (Sydney).
Married with two daughters, I live in Sydney, Australia.
